An Echoing House

I am currently seated on the only remaining piece of "furniture" in my house, the cushion from my papa son. Technically, I don't have to move out until the first of the month however, my parents schedule didn't quite align with that date. So, here I sit amongst the remnants of all of my things and the trash of moving, contemplating what kind of meal I can make with no cookware and some old food in my fridge (promising, I know). I can't imagine what kind of night I am going to have sleeping on an inflatable mattress in the middle of an otherwise empty room!

I've gotten what I wanted, to move out of this filthy, isolated house, but in a way it is bittersweet because I will also be giving up a lot of freedom and personal space to be free of it. I don't think I thought out the idea of couch surfing for a month very thoroughly. But, then again, maybe I'm dwelling in the emptiness and not seeing the potential adventure? I mean, I am the person that snuck into the Red Carpet Inn pool today (talk about great people watching)! This could just be an opportunity to embrace instability, something I should get used to since I will be moving to a foreign country in a matter of months! I am going to try and enjoy the last week of my two year stay on Greenbriar Ln. (despite how rocky that stay has been)!!!

Change Is On Its Way

I have realized lately (which maybe is a little too late) that everything, life as I know it, is about to change completely. Everything I am doing is in preparation to leave Boone--working, planning, and a large amount of boxes and bubble wrap. I failed to recognize that all of my friends are on the same path right now, but we are about to diverge into completely different directions! I have spent the last 3 or for years with these people and by the end of July, who knows when we will see each other again. While I am sad about this, it is just the way of life, people come in and out of our lives with varying speeds. All I can do is learn to send e-mails and use my phone for more than texting Miles ♥

The windmill on the mountain was moving like crazy

In the meantime, my friends and I have been spending great time together; enjoying our last few weeks of college life in Boone, NC! Lillian, Anna, and I went over to our friend Katy's apartment to make Hawaiin/Barbeque chicken and enjoy a summer storm! Katy will be the first to leave and head to Chicago and DePaul University (I will miss so much our late nights and random fun)

Happy Birthday To Me!

On the 18th, I turned 21!!!
(this is probably more like a finally, since it seems like I am way behind in this happening)

I found this pic of my Grandma and I when I was four!

I spent a great weekend with my friends, who made my birthday so much fun!!! Thanks to all of them for the gifts, drinks, late nights, and so many laughs! I have finally gotten to 'see' the "nightlife" of Boone--hahaha! Here are some highlights from the weekend.

My lovely Hobo from Miles!

I was also able to go home to Brevard for a great family party (complete with chin people, pink pepper spray, and new shoes!) All in all, I am exhausted and glad it is successfully over--I guess my next milestone is 30!

Brevard, North Carolina

Earlier this week, I was finally able to take some time away from work so that I could go home to the most fabulous little town in the States, Brevard. In the last year of school I haven't made it home as much as I would have liked, but, it wasn't until this last trip that I realized how much I miss this incredible place. I feel so much at home when I come back to this town. The places are so familiar and the people so personable, charming is the appropriate word! There are great local shops and restaurants to take advantage of; my favorites being Bracken Mountain Bakery, The Square Root, and Kiwi Gelato!!!

Brevard is located in Transylvania County which has a wealth of natural beauty. It is the land of waterfalls, 250 to be exact, home to pristine rivers such as the Davidson, and a mecca for anglers, climbers, bikers, and hikers. There are so many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors whether it be on the parkway or eating ice cream in town! This time, I only had a day and a half to see family and friends and run errands too. I was able to spend a little time with my cousin Makaela at a new spot in the Pisgah National Forest!
