OtoƱo

Lately, I have been waking up to Fall. I find myself not wanting to plant my feet on the cold tile and searching for my sweater, first thing. I recognize this feeling, of groggy mornings, trudging to class, and WINTER! This is vaguely reminiscent (but not too close for comfort) to those frigid mornings on Greenbriar ln., that only my roomie Alessandra can relate to.
Fall is my absolute favorite time of year; it makes me joyful and melancholy. I was most bummed about missing fall in the Mountains, because that is where it is most beautiful. While I am so happy that Fall has finally come to Sevilla, I am so sad about missing it back home! Especially, these things...

The awesome pumpkin that I forced Miles to carve with me last year!

The best Halloween costumes ever

I would love to see some pictures from Fall this year in the Southeast! So, send them to me, help ease my homesickness!

Antwerpen, Belgium

Somehow I made it here. The last time that I was in Antwerp I was thirteen however, things look just the same.
After a very sad departure, I ended up in the middle seat of an international flight between a charismatic American with a sugar mama and an adorable Belgian girl who is destined to be my best friend (nevermind that she speaks French). Considering the circumstances and the amenities lacking on the plane, I couldn't have asked for better! So far I've spent the day observing Dutch conversation and drinking entirely too much espresso. Did I mention that my uncle has recently moved into a renovated post office, located on the square where we spent dinner listening to an orchestra warming up below the balcony??? How perfect! Beautiful architecture, food, and music. Good night- it is only 4:30 for you but it is way past my bedtime!

All I am missing is amazing NC water!!!

Southeast Alaska

Juneau, Alaska

View from the tram that climbs to the top of Mount Roberts

Frasier, British Columbia

This is where I ended up after taking a train from Skagway that followed a gold mining trail.

Haines, Alaska

This is a view of the Chilkat river where I took an awesome float trip through the Chilkat bald eagle preserve. Definitely worthwhile!

Glacier Bay, Alaska

The place adored by John Muir (read up!)---I woke up at 6 am one morning to be standing in front of the Marjorie Glacier. I was also lucky enough to watch it calve off several times. Incredible!

Johns Hopkins Glacier

This was my favorite!!! What an absolutely gorgeous mountain scene made more incredible by a huge Z shaped glacier??? Nothing. The views in this cover were incredible, not to mention the seals and eagles.

Views from around Johns Hopkins Glacier

Juneau, Alaska

After Glacier Bay we went back to Juneau and took a helicopter to the top of the Mendenhall Glacier. I must say they are much more interesting from this angle.
